I april reser sig Vintergatan som en båge över himlen ute över Östersjön. Här ramar Vintergatan in Segerstads fyr på sydöstra Öland. Bilden är ett enkelradigt panorama med sju rutor där varje ruta består av tre exponeringar som slagits samman för att minska bruset.

In April, the Milky Way rises like an arch across the sky over the Baltic Sea. Here, the Milky Way frames Segerstad's lighthouse on southeast Öland. The image is a single-row panorama with seven panes where each pane consists of three exposures stacked together to reduce noise.

Som så många gånger förr byts Vintergatans ljus över sjömarkerna ut mot den uppgående solens ljus. Natten har varit fuktig så allt, inklusive kamera är täckt av en hinna med dagg. Tio bilder på himlen stackades för att minska bruset och kombinerades med fyra bilder med förgrunden belyst ur olika vinklar.

As so many times before, the light of the Milky Way is replaced by the first daylight as the sun is about to rise from the Baltic see. The night has been humid so everything, including the camera, is covered by a film of dew. Ten images for the sky were stacked to reduce the noise and combined with four images with the foreground illuminated from different angles.

Efter att ha havererat mitt på åkern har traktorsläpet lämnats vind för våg. Över marken börjar dimman breda ut sig och på himmelen stiger äntligen Vintergatan upp ur Östersjon. Tio exponeringar för himlen stackades för att minska bruset och två exponeringar med förgrunden belyst från olika håll kombinerades sedan i Photoshop.

Vintergatan sjunker sakta ner i Kalmarsund med klipporna vid Orminge rör, Ottenby, i förgrunden. Åtta exponeringar för himlen stackades för att minska bruset och sattes sedan samman med en lång exponering för förgrunden och 14 exponeringar där olika delar blivit belysta med en ficklampa.

På hösten reser sig vintergatan nästan vertikalt upp över himlen. Galaxens centrum har redan försvunnit under horisonten när mörkret sänker sig över det gamla gravfältet i Gettlinge och kvarnen som står där. Den här kvällen får Vintergatan sällskap av Jupiter och Saturnus som ter sig nästan onaturligt stora i det svaga diset. Bilden är ett panorama med tre bilder på höjden. Varje sådan bild består av åtta exponeringar som stackats för att reducera bruset. 21 bilder på förgrunden som belystes i olika vinklar med ficklampa för att balansera upp ljuset från gatlampan som finns bakom mig användes också.

In the autumn, the Milky Way stretches almost vertically across the sky. The center of the galaxy has already disappeared below the horizon as darkness descends over the old burial ground in Gettlinge and the wind mill that stands there. The Långe Erik lighthouse located on Öland's northern most point lights up the darkness under the Milky Way. The lighting in the lighthouse is now changed from its original position to a dimmer bulb that is attached to the railing itself, which makes it look as if the light has been placed incorrectly in the picture. Hästhuvudet är en detalj på en grind ut på Alvaret i Skärlöv. Här valde jag att gå så nära förgrunden att Vintergatan i bakgrunden kom aningens ur fokus för en kreativ effekt.

Tidsvirvel över Schäferiängarna, Ottenby. När man tittar upp på natthimlen är det lätt att tro att allt är statiskt. Men på bara knappt 40 minuter hinner mycket hända.

Ljusare tider nalkas! Vintergatan bleknar snabbt bort när solen närmar sig horisonten. Det är fortfarande två timmar kvar till soluppgång och med blotta ögat ser det i princip lika mörkt som mitt i natten. Men med kameran inställd för att fota Vintergatan dränks det svaga ljuset från stjärnorna redan nu av gryningen. Åtta bilder har stackats för att minska bruset i bilden.

Brighter times ahead! The Milky Way quickly fades away as the sun approaches the horizon. It is still two hours until sunrise and to the naked eye it looks basically as dark as in the middle of the night. But with the camera set to shoot the Milky Way, the faint light from the stars is already being drowned by the dawn. Eight exposures have been stacked to reduce the noise in the final image.
