After searching for a few hours in the morning and only finding two damselflies and three dragonflies, it was time to pack up the gear. Then all of a sudden, dragonflies appeared almost everywhere! Many chose to land on my back or on my cap, which made photographing them awkward. Here are two yellow-spotted whitefaces that moved from my head to a well exposed branch to continue their procreation.
Shoot dragonflies with 840mm focal length? While waiting for a barred warbler that didn't show up, the dragonflies got my attention. So the camera that was ready for a warbler in the sunset had instead to immortalize a four-spotted chaser in backlight.
A bit shy. Early in the morning it was surprisingly difficult to find any damselflies, there are usually lots in the tufts of grass. This is one of the first to venture forth. A few hours later, in the middle of the day, they appeared everywhere, hundreds of dragonflies sitting in basically every tuft.
