Backlit common ringed plover. The plumage works surprisingly well as camouflage, it was only when I lay down and the bird stood out as a silhouette against the background that it was detectable.
In autumn, the young shorebirds gather in flocks along Öland's coast. In the area around Ottenby, flocks of hundreds of shorebirds can move along the shore with incredible coordination in what may at first look like a totally chaotic cloud of birds. Parts of this flock of red knots could be isolated and with a long shutter speed, 1/20 second, I tried to capture the sense of movement in both the birds and the background.
