Sunset over the mountains. The golden plover is no longer in direct sunlight. Everything calms down and you can marvel as the brightly lit mountain side in the background is rapidly taken over by the shadows.
After many kilometers of hiking back and forth on Flatruet in search of dotterels, I finally gave up and went to Nipfjället were I got to enjoy this fancy male. Most of the time it lay in the nest and incubated its eggs, but it made two excursions to feed and that was short but good opportunities to photograph it.
It's cold, dark and the mosquitoes seem to be able to bite just about anywhere they like. It's almost two in the morning and it's another night without sleep. But who cares? Right in front of me, at least five great snipe display their peculiar lek among the tufts and bushes. An experience outside the ordinary!
