The robin returned time and time again to the old post. Although unusually shy, it offered a few brief photo opportunities.

For a brief moment, the robin stops in the open while constantly moving south out through the grove.

Fest för en rödhake. Alla de små svarta fläckarna på isen är myggor som precis kläckts och som nu står och fryser på isen. Rödhaken behöver bara gå fram till maten och välja den mygga på buffén som ser godast ut.

Feast for a robin. All the small black spots on the ice are mosquitoes that have just hatched and are now standing freezing on the ice. The robin just has to walk up to the food and pick what ever mosquitoe on the buffet that looks the most tasty.

Även när träden står nakna silar de ljuset på ett behagligt sätt. På aprilmorgnarna är vattensamlingarna fortfarande istäckta vilket ger en bra scen för rödhaken att posera på utan alltför mycket störande grässtrån och kvistar som stör i bilden. Här blev jag särskilt förtjust i det behagliga ljuset som träffar både fågeln och bakgrunden.

Even when the trees are bare, they create a pleasant light by filtering the incoming sunlight before it reaches the ground. On early April mornings the small bodies of water are still covered in ice, which provides a good scene for the robin to pose on without too many disturbing blades of grass and twigs interfering in the photo. Here I was particularly fond of the pleasant light that hits both the bird and the background.

Slutet av maj är en hektisk tid i för rödstjärten. Matleveranserna till holken pågick i ett. Säkert var det en välbehövlig paus att sätta sig en minut och varken leta mat eller sjunga. En grenklyka fick agera inramning för fågeln och skärma av den ljusa, solbelysta, bakgrunden.

The end of May is a busy time for redstarts. The food deliveries to the nest were never ending. I'm sure it was a much needed break to sit down for a minute and neither look for food nor sing. A fork of a bough got to act as a frame for the bird and screen off the bright, sunlit, background.

Att det inte är lätt att hitta en partner har nog den här mindre flugsnapparen upptäckt. Konstant sjungande från samma grenar, timme efter timme, dag efter dag utan att någon hona synts till. De ryktas om ett par mindre flugsnappare bara några hundra meter bort, kanske var det dit traktens enda hona försvann?

By now this red-breasted flycatcher has probably discovered that it is not easy to find a partner. Constantly singing from the same branches, hour after hour, day after day without a female in sight. There are rumors of a couple of red-breasted flycatchers just a few hundred meters away, maybe that's where the only female in the area decided to breed?

Efter en natt på fjället med dubbelbeckasinspel är det dags för frukost. Huvudet känns lite mosigt när jag dricker dagens första kopp kaffe, klockan har trots allt inte mer än hunnit passera halv fyra på morgonen. Men visst är det en bekant sångstrof som hörs i bakgrunden? I en svacka hundrafemtio meter från vägen sitter den så äntligen där i toppen på ett videsnår, blåhaken!

After spending a night on the mountain at the great snipe lek, it's time for breakfast. My head feels a little mushy when I drink the first cup of coffee of the day. After all, it's only half past four in the morning. But isn't a familiar song that is heard in the background? A hundred and fifty meters from the road, I finally find it sitting in the top of a willow thicket, the bluethroat!

Jag brukar inte ha tur med blåhakarna. Höra någon i ett tätt snår eller se en flyga undan på avstånd. Men i år måste arten haft ett bra år, jag sprang på flera hanar som visade upp sig fint och höll konsert för mig tills jag efter flera timmar kände mig mer än nöjd och gick vidare och de kunde fortsätta sjunga med myggen som enda åhörare.

I usually don't have any luck with the blue throats. Maybe hear one in a dense thicket or see one fly away in the distance. But this year must have been a very good year for the species as I found several males that was posing willingly for my camera. After several hours I felt more than satisfied (and got more than enough photos) and moved on so the concert could continue with the mosquitoes as the only audience.
