Male teal

Despite his colorful head, the male teal (Anas Crecca) managed to stay hidden in the tall grass. From the look of it, he didn't see me either so we were equally surprised when we looked at each other from a short distance.

Our most common, but also one of our most beautiful, ducks. When it slowly appears out of the morning mist, it would be a shame to ignore it!

Into the light

A duck passes the southern point of Öland during a really cold winters day. For a moment everything lines up; the duck that seems to fly straight into the sun, the clouds that forms a cone that seems to direct the duck to the sun and the sun itself that is just enough cloud covered so that the entire photo is not totally burnt out

Våren har kommit och med den hormonerna! Det är några minuter efter solnedgång och vaksamheten är fortfarande på topp. När kniphanen passerar på fel sida revirgränsen blir den snabbt bortjagad.

Spring is here and along with it comes the hormones! It is a few minutes after sunset and the vigilance is still at its peak. When the male goldeneye passes on the wrong side of the territory boundary, it is quickly chased away.

Minuterna innan solen går ner bestämmer sig kniphanen för att det är dags att hitta en pöl med sällskap och tar en flygtur till gölen bredvid.

Just minutes before the sun sets, the common goldeneye decides that it's time to find a pool with company and makes a short flight to the pond next to it.
